Generally, 7 hours of sleep is good for an adult person. According to the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System survey reported by the CDC, found that more than 35% of Americans sleep less than seven hours a day. That means one out of every three people suffers from insufficient sleep problems. Neuroscientist Dr. Ying-Hui Fu did the research and come to a decision that people who naturally wake up after only 4 to 6 hours of sleep are capable to carry throughout the day comfortably.
Recently the world’s largest sleep study was conducted by the researchers of the University of Western Ontario. 40,000 people participated there. This study found that those people who sleep between seven to eight hours on average per night performed better cognitively than those who slept more or less. The same study found too that oversleeping is equally as harmful, for health.
There is also a study which was conducted by Dr. Daniel F. Kripke, is a professor of psychiatry specializing in sleep research and aging. In the research, he didn’t find any statistical health-related reason to sleep more than six and a half hours per night. This study collected and analyzed data from the Cancer Prevention Study II (CPS-II) from the American Cancer Society which finds that sleeping for about five-six hours per night is slightly safer than sleeping for eight hours.

In the modern era, people are so much busy with their works. They need to work both day and night for completing it. Sometimes there is so much working pressure for a person. Most people like to use social media at night rather than day. At the weekend they watch movies, web series, etc. for entertaining themselves through the late part of the night. One thing is clear that modern people do have not much time for sleep at night.
As a result, people often compromise their sleeping hours just to get things done. In that situation, they like to take a nap instead of properly sleeping to energize themselves. But napping cannot be enough to get along in place of sufficient sleep.
